Completed Project: Area 751

Area 751 is a residence addition in a private desert oasis, beautifully shot by Bill Timmerman.

Despite bearing a similar name to Area 51, there are no conspiracies, internet trends, or aliens here (that we know of!). Surrounding the sturdy metal work is just its inhabitants and a thriving desert ecosystem, which can be observed from the open-concept interior of the home.

Grand Opening

We enjoyed being with other local families celebrating the grand re-opening of the Flowing Wells Library on Saturday, February 23, 2019.

To quote one eighth grader present, “This library is LIT!

The Kappcon Construction Team agrees, this is one magnificent library!

The library actually is “lit” thanks to the light wall in the children’s area! Photo by Bradley Wheeler

Updates include new study rooms for teens, a children’s area, a large community room and a beautiful outdoor patio space. Kappcon is so proud of this project, several employees now use it as their go-to library! The Flowing Wells community will be well served by this engaging space.

Concrete Slab for Rita Road Cultivation Center

Earlier this month, Kappcon and trade partner employees poured the largest concrete slab in our history. Poured in two separate evenings, the almost 900 yards of concrete will be the future home of the Tucson Cannabis Campus. This state of the art medical marijuana facility will be the largest in Arizona once completed.

Kappcon would like to thank the hardworking employees of Calportland, Brundage-Bone, Luciano Concrete and Penhall for their partnership on this project.

You can read more about the Tucson Cannabis Campus at the Arizona Daily Star.

Completed Project: Himmel Park Playground

In 2018, Kappcon and the City of Tucson Parks & Rec department teamed up to breathe new life into Himmel Park. There are now designated play zones for younger and older children as well as picnic tables, water fountains and shady areas for parents. Parents will also be pleased by the new concrete pathways that allow strollers to easily access different points within the park.

Most importantly, the beloved metal slide community members rallied to protect is still standing. Tucson kids will be able to zoom down the freshly painted retro slide for decades to come!

Horseshoe Canyon Remediation

Horseshoe Canyon is a special place on Kitt Peak.  Our team was tasked with remediation of a developed telescope site and giving it back to nature.  Our team walked through the site after the grading was completed.  Next step is to re-plant the site with salvaged native plants, new plants from salvaged seeds, and to add a harvested hydro-seed mix.

Splash Pad in Marana’s Crossroads Park

Two things in high demand during the Tucson summer:  Water to Splash, and Shade from the Sun!

Kappcon was the proud Design Builder of a new Splash Pad that we hope families will enjoy for many  year to come.

News Coverage of the Grand Opening

This is what the project looked like hours before the Grand Opening…ready for all those kiddos!

Splash Pad at Crossroads: June Update

Have Some Concrete with Your Rebar

The new splash pad at the Crossroads at Silverbell District Park is coming right along. The fountain heads are in place and concrete is being poured over an impressive rebar mat (see the photo above!). Then, we will hoist up the shade sails and test ‘er out!

Another fun fact about the splash pad is that on designated nights, it will double as an LED light and water show for park patrons. Speaking of light shows, stop by the Town of Marana’s July 4th Star Spangled Spectacular for some family fun.

Keep an eye out for these banners!
