Challenging work on a mountain top Observatory

Way up on Mt Graham, Arizona there is the Large Binocular Telescope Observatory.

This building experiences some of the most extreme environmental conditions.

To add to the excitement of the extreme environmental conditions, this building won’t hold still.  It rotates 560 degrees and has two roof shutters that open and shut every night for a world class science program.

This summer our challenge was to improve existing metal roofs that have suffered damage due to falling ice and snow.

Planning a Neighborhood Ramada – Historic Renovation

Update – Project complete and dedication

Update 11/28/16 – Progress picture and article from Arizona Daily Star

Working with a fantastic neighborhood that is passionate about saving a piece of history.  This neighborhood has salvaged beautiful glazed roof tiles from a near by demolition of a historic ranch house in mid-town Tucson.

They now are now planning a presentation of those historic tiles on a new park ramada structure.

Kappcon is pleased to be working with this team to ensure a quality result within a tight budget.

Upgraded: Our new Robotic Total Station

For the past 10 years, we have built up our capabilities with a mechanical Total Station.  This tool has forever changed the way we layout foundations, sites, and intricate architectural features.  We have now taken the next step and upgraded to a robotic total station.  We will be using this for construction staking, precision layouts, as built documentation, and more.

This is how we use BIM to everyone’s advantage on the job site.  Read more about Total Stations here.
