Grand Opening
We enjoyed being with other local families celebrating the grand re-opening of the Flowing Wells Library on Saturday, February 23, 2019.
To quote one eighth grader present, “This library is LIT!“
Updates include new study rooms for teens, a children’s area, a large community room and a beautiful outdoor patio space. Kappcon is so proud of this project, several employees now use it as their go-to library! The Flowing Wells community will be well served by this engaging space.
Library Construction – Snapped this team picture during one of our punch list walks. A great reminder that every project has a Beginning, Middle, and END!!! Good job everybody.
Lute Olson is a man who needs no introduction to University of Arizona basketball fans. The legendary men’s coach has 46 NCAA tournament wins under his belt, ushered many of his players into the NBA and transformed the Wildcat program into a basketball powerhouse.
After it was announced that a statue in his honor was to be erected, Kappcon was brought on to prepare the location where the statue would sit at the McKale Center. Once the foundation was ready to support the tremendous weight of the statue, it was time to get Lute in place.
The Unveiling
The life sized statue was unveiled at a touching ceremony on the Eddie Lynch Pavilion at the McKale Center on April, 2018. In attendance were former and current players, Wildcat fans, and the man of the hour, Lute Olson himself. Kappcon was thrilled to be a part of this special University of Arizona project honoring a true sports legend.
We would like to thank our trade partners Parsons Steel Builders, Sturgeon Electric, Penhall Concrete and Marco Crane for their assistance with this project.
Kappcon has partnered with Line + Space Architects and a host of incredible local subcontractors to remodel the Flowing Wells Library. Although the original structure will remain intact, the library will nearly double in size. The library addition will incorporate new teen and children’s areas, expanded computer work stations and a multipurpose room; all optimally designed to evoke community pride and encourage engagement.
Arizona Daily Star photojournalist Ron Medvescek visited the Flowing Wells Library site last month to document Kappcon’s demolition progress.
It’s pretty hard to believe that all this metal and concrete will one day look like Line + Space’s beautiful renderings! That’s the magic of commercial construction for you. We will be sure to keep you informed on the progress of this exciting project.
