Kappcon General Contracting has teamed with Sierra Vista Unified School District and BWS Architects to construct a new MPR and Classroom Building at Pueblo Del Sol Elementary School. The work was started in March 2020 and Completed in November 2020.
We were proud to partner with the Rio Nuevo District, and Poster Mirto McDonald to move the historic structures off the new right-of-way at Broadway Blvd in Tucson, AZ.
Library Construction – Snapped this team picture during one of our punch list walks. A great reminder that every project has a Beginning, Middle, and END!!! Good job everybody.
The new splash pad at the Crossroads at Silverbell District Park is coming right along. The fountain heads are in place and concrete is being poured over an impressive rebar mat (see the photo above!). Then, we will hoist up the shade sails and test ‘er out!
Another fun fact about the splash pad is that on designated nights, it will double as an LED light and water show for park patrons. Speaking of light shows, stop by the Town of Marana’s July 4th Star Spangled Spectacular for some family fun.
Kappcon has a long history of partnering with the University of Arizona; our latest project at 655 N Alvernon is no exception. The University purchased the 1970’s building for Health Sciences staff, but first the property needed serious love before the team could move in. We gutted the building (very quietly, some tenants were still there) and started from scratch.
Goings on at Alvernon
We aren’t quite finished yet, but the first interior shots were too good not to share. It’s very exciting to watch the progression from “gutted old building” to modern, cheerful work space. We hope the medical personnel will be happy in their new home.

More to Come
Kappcon will be completing lab spaces, work and communal areas, and exterior updates for 655 N Alvernon in the coming weeks. Stay tuned to see the finished project! (this is the before…)
As always, these photos were taken by the great folks at openform.
We recommend them for any of your brand strategy and design needs.
A nice write up in the Arizona Daily Star about the park construction we are working on and the neighborhood history surrounding it…
We are near completion of this park construction project – just waiting on artwork to embed into the columns that will tell the story of the salvaged roof tiles and the salvaged foundation stones.
Working with a fantastic neighborhood that is passionate about saving a piece of history. This neighborhood has salvaged beautiful glazed roof tiles from a near by demolition of a historic ranch house in mid-town Tucson.
They now are now planning a presentation of those historic tiles on a new park ramada structure.
Kappcon is pleased to be working with this team to ensure a quality result within a tight budget.
